Alma Catherine Blomberg, age 88, of St. Anthony, passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2020, at SSM St. Mary's Hospital in Jefferson City. She was born on March 25, 1932, daughter of the late Frank and Sophia (Brenneke) Lueckenhoff. On June 28, 1952, in St. Elizabeth, Alma married Henry Blomberg, who preceded her in death on December 9, 1995. Alma was a constant partner to her husband Henry on the farm, where she loved and raised 10 children. Alma was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in St. Anthony of which she was very devoted and faithful. After the kids were all in school, she worked in the laundry department at the St. Elizabeth Care Center for several years. For Alma's pastime she loved quilting for family and other organizations such as the St. Anthony Parish, St. Cecilia Parish and the Civic League of Meta. When she was not quilting, she loved to play cards with friends and family. Before her failing health, she was a member of a bowling team at St. Elizabeth and she helped serve coffee at the St. Elizabeth Care Center. She was also a member of Sunshine Gals, Senior Citizens Club, Over 50 Club at St. Anthony, and she occasionally volunteered at the Helping Hands Store in St. Elizabeth. She is survived by nine children, Gerard "Butch" Blomberg (Joyce) of St. Elizabeth, Dolores Libbert (Tony) of Meta, Carolyn Brockes (Harold) of St. Thomas, Pam Libbert (Terry) of Meta, Ron Blomberg (Diane) of Meta, Sam Blomberg (Becky) of St. Elizabeth, Nancy Loethen (Dave) of Meta, Teresa Heckemeyer (Carl) of St. Elizabeth and Sid Blomberg (Patsy) of St. Anthony; 27 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; one great-grandchild on the way; two brothers, Jim Lueckenhoff (Betty) of St. Elizabeth and Alfred Lueckenhoff (Nordelle) of Jefferson City; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry; daughter, Mary Clark, great-grandson, Maverick Christopher Libbert; and six siblings, Marie Dwight, Martina Morff, Martha Sanning, Genevieve Kimball, Joe Lueckenhoff, Herman Lueckehoff and Robert Lueckenhoff. A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church with Fr. Joby Thomas officiating. The public is welcome to attend the graveside service with social distancing at St. Anthony Cemetery at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 9, 2020. Due to the private service and COVID restrictions, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Masses or St. Anthony Cemetery.
