Crystal Lanette Gates

Crystal Lanette Gates, 36, of Jefferson City, passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2020, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 14, 1983, in Jefferson City, a daughter of Michael Gates and Shannon Storey. Crystal was a graduate of Jefferson City High School and studied criminal justice. She obtained her commercial drivers license and drove a school bus for many years. Crystal was a daredevil and loved all kinds of adventures including parasailing. She was a talented singer and enjoyed singing in the choir. Most of all, Crystal cherished the memories created with her children. She is survived by her children: Bryson Gates Love and Sierra Breann Gates and their father, Bryan Love; mother: Shannon Storey of Jefferson City; father: Michael Gates of Columbia; maternal grandmother: Donna Mitchem of Holts Summit; sister: Danelle Breann Gates of Columbia; aunts: Donna Findley (Keith), Ruth Wheat (Curt), Michelle Turner (Pat), Rose Wilder and Brenda Schneller (Chris); uncles: Shawn Storey (Jennifer), Terry Spiess (Jody), Dennis Mueller, Gary Mueller (Vanessa), Choan Gates (Donna) and Brian Gates (Debbie); and nieces: Pamela Hassler and Olivia Hassler. Crystal was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather: Mark Mitchem, and paternal grandparents: Jerry and Dolores Gates. Friends will be received from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors with a celebration of life at 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the family of Crystal Gates.
