Martin Bernard Bauer, age 78 years, of Brinktown, departed this life Monday evening, December 30, 2019, in the Phelps Health, Rolla. He was born on March 29, 1941, on the family farm near Brinktown, a son of Herman P. and Celestine A. (Winkelman) Bauer Mr. Bauer was united in marriage on August 25, 1973, at St. Thomas, to Margaret Ann Boessen and to this union, three children were born. He was a United States Army veteran and a member of the Guardian Angels Catholic Church, Brinktown; the Argyle Knights of Columbus Council # 2047, and the Vienna-Bassett Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aries # 4340. Mr. Bauer had served as a Maries County Commissioner for several years and had worked as a lime truck driver, in construction, and as a cattle farmer. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially coyote hunting. Those left to mourn the passing of Mr. Bauer include: His children, Matthew Bauer, Brinktown and David Bauer and his friend, Myra Ragan, Vienna; and Luann Kemna and husband, Larry, Jefferson City; one grandchild, Jada Kemna; three sisters, Odilia "Dee" Kristof and husband, Gale, state of Arizona; Mary Gansmann and Theresa Koerber, both of St. Louis; and many other relatives and friends. Mr. Bauer was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret, on November 13, 1978; his father, Herman; his mother, Celestine; and his siblings, Joseph S. Bauer, Elizabeth A. Wester, Anthony G. Bauer, John C. Bauer, Agnes B. LaBruyere, Norbert J. Bauer, Ralph A. Bauer and Gertrude T. Mehlick. Visitation for Mr. Bauer will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., in the Guardian Angels Catholic Church, Highway N, Brinktown, Missouri 65443, on Friday, January 3, 2020, with the Mass of Christian Burial following at 11:00 a.m., celebrated by the Rev. Matthew Flatley. Interment will be in the St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery, St. Thomas, under the direction of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna. Pallbearers for Mr. Bauer will be Mark Boessen, Gregg Boessen, Roger Rowden, Dale Wansing, Shawn Boessen, and Joe Veasman. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Lehmen and Kenny Boessen.
