Annabelle Kohl, age 85, formerly of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Friday, February 7, 2020, at Big Bend Woods Healthcare Center in Valley Park, Mo., surrounded by her family. Annabelle was born on September 29, 1934 in Qulin, Mo., the daughter of George W. and Pansy Mae (Goodman) Rowland. She was married on March 17, 1951 in St. Louis, Mo. to Edward Marvin "Red" Kohl, who preceded her in death on March 12, 1995. Annabelle lived in Jefferson County, Mo. for the majority of her life and possessed a strong work ethic. She was employed by Commercial Letter in St. Louis as their mailroom supervisor for 30 years. She and Red also owned High Ridge Bowling Alley in High Ridge, Mo. during many of those years and she made lasting friendships from that experience. They later moved to Jefferson City and she began working in the kitchen at Lewis and Clark Middle School until her retirement. She was passionate about playing bingo with friends and never turned down a game in both St. Louis and Jefferson City. Annabelle cherished time with her family and loved spending time with her sons and grandchildren, who always kept her busy. Her family will remember her independent, strong willed and selfless values that she passed along to them. Survivors include: four sons, Dan Kohl of Jefferson City, Mo., Terry Kohl (wife Kelly) of High Ridge, Mo., Rob Kohl of High Ridge, Mo., and Greg Kohl of Fenton, Mo.; her brother, Robert Rowland (wife Beverly) of St. Louis, Mo.; eight grandsons, Broc Kohl (wife Dana), Joe Kohl, Matt Kohl (wife Ashley), Aaron Kohl, Brad Kohl, Chris Kohl (wife Darsey), Neil Kohl, and Phillip Donze; 12 great-grandchildren, Kailey, Jacob, Austin, Keaton, Kaleb, Brandon, Sage, Dakota, Jacob, Brody, Kailah, and Silas; one great-great-granddaughter, Ainsley; and numerous nieces and nephews. Annabelle was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Red Kohl; three siblings, William Rowland, Junior Rowland and Marie "Sis" Edwards; and two grandsons, Brian Kohl and Gregory "Michael" Kohl. Visitation will be held at Freeman Mortuary from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., Monday, February 10, 2020. A funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 p.m., Monday, February 10, 2020 in the Freeman Chapel with Chaplain Bart Larson officiating. Graveside services and interment will be held at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Christian Fellowship Church, 600 Beck Street, Jefferson City, MO 65109.
