Timothy J. Steck, 65, of Holts Summit, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 1, 2020, after a long battle with cancer. Tim spent his last hours at home surrounded by his family. He was born January 8, 1955, in Jefferson City, Mo., the son of Leo A. Steck and Betty J. (Ott) Steck. Tim graduated from Helias Catholic High School in 1973. Tim was united in marriage to Irasema Loza, his partner of 10 years, on August 16, 2003, at St. Peter Catholic Church, Jefferson City, who survives of the home. He spent his career working as a drywall finisher in Jefferson City and the surrounding areas, as well as traveling throughout the country. For the last several years he worked as a union finisher in Painters District Council 58/Local 1185. Tim was an outdoor enthusiast who loved to spend his time gardening, camping, canoeing, hunting and swimming. He was certified as a scuba diver. He was a loyal and faithful member of St. Andrew Catholic Church, Holts Summit, was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council-Lodge 8400 and was active in the Christ Renews His Parish (CHRP) program. Tim was dedicated to the pro-life movement, supporting the Vitae Foundation and 40 Days For Life. Survivors include one son, Travis L. Steck (Gessee), Columbia, Mo.; one grandson, Oliver J. Steck; three brothers, Michael (Mary) Steck, Holts Summit, Daniel (Rosie) Steck, St. Martin, Harold (Cheryl) Steck, Centertown; two sisters, Lois (Kenny) Schulte, Springfield, Mo., Linda (Kevin) Welch, St. Martin; many nephews, nieces, grand-nephews, grand-nieces; godsons, Kyle Schulte, Erasmus Loza, Damion Mills; and goddaughter, Valeryia Burns. Tim was preceded in death by his nephew, Michael Stotler, and his infant daughter. Tim treasured his family and friends, was loved by many and never knew a stranger. He fought his battle with cancer bravely and with deep and enduring faith in God, in who he placed his trust. Visitation will be 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Wednesday, February 5, 2020, at St. Andrew Catholic Church with a rosary recited at 4:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Andrew with Rev. Roberto M. Ike officiating. Interment will be at a later date in St. Martin Catholic Cemetery.
