Mary Ann Buzard, age 87, lost her hard-fought battle with Covid-19 on Wednesday, December 9, 2020, at Research Medical Center in Kansas City. All of her family was there in spirit at her passing. Mary Ann was born in Carrollton, Missouri, on July 9, 1933, to Otis Richard and Lillie (Thomas) Cooper. She was raised in the Carrollton area and graduated from Carrollton High School in 1951. She worked for the Air Force after graduation. On July 19, 1953, she married Donald E. Buzard at the Pleasant Hill Christian Church, our family church, until it closed in the 1980s. Their union was blessed with three children, Donna, Norman, and Donald Jr. Don and Mary Ann were married almost 63 years until his death on May 11, 2016. Mary Ann started working locally as a secretary for Clayton Bridges of the Bridges and Beams Insurance Agency. She became a manager, part-owner, and then co-owned Insurance Protection Agency for many years. Before and after retiring, she spent many happy days attending activities and celebrations with her family. Our home was often the gathering spot for many holidays - especially Christmas, which she loved. Mom was an excellent cook and was known for her bountiful Christmas meals. Her macaroni and cheese was without equal, and we will all miss her Christmas caramels. Mary Ann is survived by her three children, Donna Buzard of Chillicothe, Norman Richard Buzard (Arbizene) of Jefferson City, Donald Eugene Buzard Jr. (Melody) of Carrollton; eight grandchildren, Sarah (Josh) Suffel, Juliana Buzard, Matthew Buzard, Joshua Buzard, Elizabeth (Anthony) Richard, Katie (Jordan) Faires, Rebecca Buzard, Donald E. Buzard II; three great-grandchildren, Aiden, Avery, and AJ; a sister-in-law, Oleda Cooper; also, many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Donald Buzard Sr.; and two brothers, Otis Richard Cooper, Jr., and Harold Cooper. A graveside committal service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, December 21, 2020, at Ebenezer Cemetery, Carrollton, Missouri, with Pastor Anselm Williams officiating. In memory of Mary Ann, and as an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions are humbly suggested to the Pleasant Hill Cemetery Fund or Ebenezer Cemetery. They may be left at or mailed to Foster Funeral Chapels, 201 South Main Street, Carrollton, MO 64633.
