Sue Ann Schellmann

Sue Ann Schellmann, age 72, of Olathe, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2020, at her home after a long battle with cancer. She was a warrior when it came to cancer - beating it three times before this final battle. Born in Jefferson City, Missouri, she was the only child of Monte and Rheta Roberts. Growing up Sue Ann played piano and danced. She was a Majorette for the Jefferson City High School Jays and known for twirling fire batons. She marched in the opening parade for the New York World Fair. During college she was named Grand Worthy Advisor for Rainbows and Best Dressed Girl at CMSU. She loved art, painting, travel and was a member of the Assistants League of Kansas City. Sue Ann attended William Woods College and CMSU to earn a BA in Education. She went on to get a Masters Degree, a Specialist Degree, plus 48 hours at Webster University. She taught for over 30 years in the North Kansas City School District. Though she taught grades 1-6, most of her years were spent in first grade, teaching hundreds of children to read and providing a foundation for the rest of their education career. She was loved by her students and their parents. Sue Ann grew up in Jefferson City, Missouri. She moved to California after getting married to Logan Schellmann on August 19, 1972. After a year, they moved back to the Midwest residing in Kansas City, Missouri until 2014 when they moved to Olathe, Kansas to be closer to their daughter and grandchildren. Sue Ann is survived by her husband, Logan Schellmann; her daughter, Tracy Schellmann; and her grandchildren, Tanner and Crosby Smith. A private memorial service will be held in Jefferson City, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Susan G.
