Daniel "Dan" Sartain, 71, of Centertown, passed away on Thursday, November 26, 2020, at Ashland Healthcare. He was born September 24, 1949, in Jefferson City, a son of the late S.L. and Blondie (McKenna) Sartain. He was united in marriage to Charlotte Dixon on March 1, 1969, in Cedar City. He was a 1967 graduate of Jefferson City High School. After graduation, he was drafted into the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict. After his enlistment ended, he joined the Missouri National Guard and retired in 2005, after 31 years of military and civilian service. During his time of service, Dan was awarded the Conspicuous Medal by then Governor Kit Bond and the Air medal for his service in Operation Iraqi Freedom. He also owned his own farrier business from 1999 until 2005. Dan enjoyed deer and turkey hunting, camping, and riding his motorcycle, especially if Charlotte was his co-pilot. They were in a dance club and would perform competitively. He was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, National Rifle Association and the Legion Riders. Spending time with his family and beautiful grandchildren are times he treasured the most. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Dan is survived by his wife of 51 years: Charlotte Sartain; sons: Travis Sartain (Mitzi) and Thad Sartain (Ashley); grandchildren: Austin, Chloe, Kylee and Hudson. He was preceded in death by his infant sister, Chloe Sartain. Family and Friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 1, 2020, at Houser Millard Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on December 2, 2020, at Houser Millard Funeral Directors with burial following at Centertown Cemetery with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Shiloh United Methodist Church, Central Missouri Honor Flight, Fallen Riders Scholarship Program or Hospice Compassus of Central Missouri.
