Ronald Gene Wagner

Ronald Gene Wagner, age 87, passed away Thursday, August 20, 2020. He was born August 3, 1933 in Pawnee City, Nebraska. His parents were John Jacob and Lois Mae (Morris) Wagner. His early years were spent in Southeast Nebraska. He attended Humboldt and Lynchberg grade schools and graduated from Honey Creek High School. He attended Peru State College, graduating in 1958 with a double major in Physical Education and Industrial Arts. He spent 25 years teaching Physical Education, Industrial Arts and Drivers Training at the Creston Community Schools in Creston, Iowa. While teaching, he acquired a Masters Degree at University of Northern Colorado and a Specialist Degree at the University of Missouri. Ronald wanted to be an administrator and was hired to be Superintendent of Schools and Elementary Principal at Livingston County R-IV in Wheeling, Missouri. He was also Superintendent at Shelby-Tennant Schools, Prairie Home R-V, Linn County R-I at Purdin, Chadwick R-I and Miami R-I schools before retiring in 1996. He spent two years in the Army and was honorably discharged with the rank of Corporal. Most of that time was spent in Germany. Ronald is survived by his wife of 61 years, Gloria; daughter: Ronette Lynn Applegate (husband Marc); sister: Mary Ann Marmet; brother: Charles Wagner (wife Cheri); brother-in-law: Ken Jameson (wife Sue); sister-in-law: Ann Jameson; and granddaughter: Sunny Elizabeth Applegate. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lois Wagner; brother: John Wagner; and brother-in-law: Hiram Eugene Jameson. No public services are planned.
