Donna Rice, 79, of Hartsburg, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, August 1, 2020, at Capital Region Medical Center. She was born on July 16, 1941, in Tipton, Missouri, a daughter of the late Louis J. and Gertrude (Chmelir) Koechner. She was united in marriage on September 2, 1961, to Harold Wayne Rice at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Tipton, Missouri. Donna was a graduate of Tipton High School. Following graduation, she attended Capital Business School and immediately began her work career with the state of Missouri. Donna was employed with the Office of Administration, Division of Budget and Planning for over 55 years until her retirement in 2015. She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Jefferson City. Donna enjoyed gardening and driving thru the countryside, often stopping at Amish and thrift stores. Her love was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Wayne; children: Michael Wayne Rice (Randy) of Ashland, Jeffry Travis Rice of Holts Summit, Georgetta Dwyer (Corey) of Holts Summit, Jennifer Swan (Jon) of Russellville and Scott Lee Rice (Jeannette) of Plato; sister: Peggy Frederick (Larry); grandchildren: Katie Rice, Tyler Rice, Lauren Wiseman, Brittny Wolfe (Lane), Breanna Webb (John), Samantha Crawford, Ryan May, Hannah Rice and Lily Swan; seven great-grandchildren and many other family and friends. Donna was preceded in death by her sister: Ruth Koechner. Friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Thursday, August 6, 2020, at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 7, 2020, at St. Peter Catholic Church. Interment will immediately follow at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children in St. Louis.
