Gertrude Marie (Ott) Davis, also known as Gertie, became one of God's angels on Palm Sunday, April 5, 2020, after putting up a brave fight against Cancer. She passed at her home with family members by her side. She was born on June 28, 1935, in Lohman, Mo., the daughter of Herman C. Ott Sr. and Louise (Sauer) Ott, whom proceeded her in death. She was a graduate of Russellville High School and was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church, Russellville, Mo. She was united in marriage on October 17, 1998, to John T. Davis, who survives at their home. She worked for the Department of Revenue, R L Polk & Co., MO State Chamber of Commerce, MO Commission of Human Rights, and worked 31 years for the MO National Guard US Property and Fiscal Office, until retirement. She made numerous friends throughout her career and will be missed by many. As a divorced mother of five children, in addition to working full-time, she utilized her talents as a master seamstress to fabricate wedding gowns, dresses, and various types of clothing for clients to provide funds to raise her children. Gertie was known for her sewing skills and military members would take their uniforms to her for alterations, sewing on rank and patches, knowing they would be perfect when she was done. She also was talented in Oil Panting and worked in the evenings converting black & white portraits to color for English Studios. She loved her children and they meant everything to her, and she was determined to give them the best life she could. Gertie's talents and love of sewing quilts were sought after by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will be forever remembered through the quilts that she has given to each one of them, and they will be a reminder of her love and affection forever. Gertie and John loved to get in their motor home and travel, spending time with friends, who traveled with them, and those they met along the way. They enjoyed spending time going places, seeing family, stopping at antique malls, and occasionally taking a trip to the casino, to just get away and spend time together. A special thanks to Hospice Compassus, other medical professionals at hospitals, and friends and family members who provided care to her during this time. She will be missed by so many friends and family, but will be forever remembered in their hearts. She is survived by her husband, John T. Davis, Jefferson City, Mo.; her daughters, Paula (Phil) Prosser, Jefferson City, Mo., Glenda Pfitzer, Bryan, Texas, Diana (John) Buchanan, Jefferson City, Mo., Lisa Loesch, Jefferson City, Mo.; one son; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
