Dorothy Irene Turpin, 84, of Jefferson City, Missouri, passed away on Friday, October 25, 2019 at Capital Region Medical Center surrounded by family and friends. She was born on June 7, 1935 in Jefferson City, a daughter of the late Otis Frank and Hazel Belle (Smith) Miller. She was united in marriage to Wilson James Turpin on November 16, 1956 in Fulton, Missouri. He preceded her in death in 1990. Dorothy attended school at Spring Valley School and Eugene School. She worked for International Shoe where she built the "Tallest Man", Robert Wadlow, custom shoes. Dorothy also worked for McGraw-Edison and was a nationally certified food and nutritionist director for over 20 years. She and Wilson owned and operated Turp's Garage for over 50 years. Dorothy enjoyed bowling and was a league member at West Gate Lanes. She liked to play poker, cards and watching NASCAR. Dorothy's greatest pleasure was spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by her daughters: Rhonda Lauf (Doug) of Henley and Dana Mans (Casey) of Eugene; sons: Gary Turpin (Donna) of St. Martins, James Turpin of Jefferson City, Wilson "Paul" Turpin of Jefferson City, and Jeffrey Turpin of Jefferson City; sisters: Margaret Brandt (Leo) of Kalispell, Montana and Wanda Coleman of Jefferson City; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren. Dorothy was preceded in death by her children: Terry Turpin, Sherry Turpin, Jonathan Turpin, Deana Turpin, Wanda Clevenger and Joann Kelsey. Friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors. Interment will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy be made to the family of Dorothy Turpin.
