Claudia Louise Smith, 90, of Holts Summit, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 17, 2019 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 22, 1928, a daughter of the late Claude and Roxie (Herndon) Norman. Louise was united in marriage on August 20, 1947 to Stanley C. Smith, who preceded her in death on January 12, 2008. She was employed by the Jefferson City School District and served as a school cook at both Simonsen and Jefferson City High School. Louise also worked at Chesebrough Ponds for over 10 years until her retirement in 1986. Louise was a member of the Fairgrounds Road Church of Christ. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, knitting, and playing on the computer. She was a talented seamstress and made all of her children's clothing. Louise loved babysitting and baking, but most of all cherished the times taking care of the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Louise is survived by her children: Linda Watson (John) of Holts Summit, Judy Nelson (Gale) of Wichita, Kansas, Richard Smith (Cynthia) of Jefferson City, Randy Smith of Jefferson City, and Bruce Smith (Marilyn) of Henley; sisters: Betty Smith of Jefferson City and Faye Swartz (Carl) of Highspire, Pennsylvania; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter on the way; and several cousins, nephews, nieces and other family and friends. She was preceded in death by brothers: Raymond Norman, J.C. Norman, Glen Norman and Claude "Junior" Norman; sisters: Stella Stoddard, Brenda Pearson, Maizie Jones and Thelma Seay; and one great-granddaaughter, Eleanor Farris. Friends will be received from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Friday, March 22, 2019 at Fairgrounds Road Church of Christ with Funeral Services at 12:00 p.m. with Carey Terry officiating. Interment will follow in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. Expressions of sympathy can be made to the Gadsen Church of Christ School of Biblical Studies, P.O. Box 967, Gadsen, AL 35902-0967.
