Marian Marie English, age 97, died Sunday, January 20, 2019. The daughter of the late Louis and Marie Fletcher, Marian was born on September 1, 1921, in Boynton, Arkansas. On June 11, 1943, she was united in marriage to Reverend Howard K English. He preceded her in death on September 5, 1987. Marian went to Murray College, was a substitute teacher, was a choir director at many churches, and loved to give piano lessons. Survivors include: one daughter, Dena Branson and husband, Gordon; one brother, Jack Fletcher; three grandsons, Aaron Ashcroft, Guy Kinsey and Jeremy Kinsey; two granddaughters, Kristi and husband Ryan Stokes and Stacey Branson; many nieces and nephews, and many close friend who will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Sharon English; one brother, James Fletcher; and two sisters-in-law, Pat Fletcher and Maxine Fletcher. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 25, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Gideon. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, January 26 at the church. There will also be a Memorial Service held at Southside Baptist Church in Fulton, Mo. on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. with Rev. Guy Thomas officiating. Family asks that memorials be made to the First Baptist Church in Gideon or the Southside Baptist Church in Fulton, Mo.
