James (Jim) R. Temmen, age 83, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 22, 2019, surrounded in love, by his wife Dorothy of 60 years, and family. One of five children, Jim was born on December 13, 1935, to parents Ralph and Marie (Wilde) Temmen. He was baptized into the Catholic church and raised on the family farm in Folk, Missouri. In 1953 he graduated from Fatima High School. Following graduation, he worked on the Winkleman family farm, and worked as a carpenter for many years. In 1956, he met the love of his life, Dorothy Rackers, at a wedding reception, at which time he asked her to ride to town to pick up some bread, with the permission of her parents. They were united in marriage on June 27, 1958. Jim served in the Missouri National Guard prior to being accepted to the Missouri State Highway Patrol Academy in 1962. After graduation he dedicated 30 years as a trooper. Jim farmed for many years raising both cattle and crops, loving the time he spent in the seat of an International tractor. He enjoyed many hobbies, particularly after he retired, including traveling, playing cards, fishing and hunting, and spending time with family and friends. He was an active member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, and beloved neighbor to many in Folk Missouri. He is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy (Rackers) Temmen of the home; three siblings, Mary Catherine (Temmen) Strope of Folk Mo.; Bill Temmen and wife Marilyn of Wardsville, Mo.; and Carolyn (Temmen) Lueckenhoff and husband August (Bud) of Springfield, Mo.; brother-in-law, Richard Rackers, and wife Jean of New Bloomfield, Mo.; and sister-in-law, Ruth Stratman of Sedalia. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephew, great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nephews and niece. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Ralph and Marie (Wilde) Temmen; brother, Ed Temmen; brother-in-law, Jerry Stratman; and brother-in-law, Raymond Strope. Visitation will be held at Hilke-Millard Funeral Home in Westphalia Mo, on Sunday, February 24th, 2019. Friends will be received from 2:00 p.m. - 5:00pm. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 25, 2019, at St. Anthony of Padua in Folk, Mo., with Father Anthony J. Viviano officiating, with Father James Finder as co-officiant. Interment will follow be in the St. Anthony of Padua Church Cemetery in Folk.
