Ronald E. Griggs, age 66, of Rocky Mount, passed away August 14, 2018, at his home surrounded by family and friends. He was born June 28, 1952 in St. Louis, the son of Thomas E. and Marple H. (Matchell) Griggs. Ron accepted the Lord as his Savior. He graduated from Potosi High School in 1970 and attended Columbia College. Ron served honorable in the United States Air Force and Missouri Air National Guard (MoANG) attaining the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. CMSgt Griggs served a total of 32.5 years before retiring in September 2003. After retirement from MoANG, he was employed by Lowe's Home Improvement Center in Jefferson City until 2013. In his spare time and retirement, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. Survivors include his son, Dennis (Tracy Wilde) Griggs of Festus; four grandchildren, Zachary Griggs, Courtney Griggs, Josh Griggs, and Keagun Wilkinson-Griggs; eight sisters, Beulah Hollinsworth, Goldie Bibb, Dorothy Wilkinson, Gerri Lawson, Dianne (Lonnie) Masson, Donna Griggs, all of Potosi, Shirley Griggs of Eureka, and Carolyn (Ted) Pashia of Pevely; one brother, Thomas Griggs of Hillsboro. He is also survived by many other family members and friends. In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by an infant brother; two sisters: Florence Masson and Iva Lee Griggs; one brother, Floyd Griggs; brothers-in-law: Adolph Wilkinson, Bill Masson, Bill Bibb, and Stanley Hollinsworth. The family welcomed friends from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at the First Baptist Church, 10479 State Highway P, Potosi, MO 63664. A Celebration of Life followed beginning at 12 p.m. at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Gilliam officiating. Interment and final prayers were held at White Oak Grove Baptist Cemetery. Ron received full military honors consisting of flag folding and presentation, TAPS and gun salute presented by the United States Air Force and VFW Post 6996. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Missouri National Guard (MONG) Camp Guardian Foundation in care of River Region Credit Union, in Jefferson City, Mo. Funeral arrangements were respectfully cared for by DeClue Funeral Home.
