Josephine Vaughan

Josephine Vaughan, 75, of Jefferson City, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 24, 2018, at Capital Region Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 7, 1943, in Fulton, Missouri, to Margaret Jean Kemp and Roland Branham. Josephine was united in marriage to Clarence Vaughan on November 12, 1960, in Fulton, Missouri. She was employed by the Office of Administration, Division of Design and Construction for over 30 years until her retirement in 2000. Josephine worked part-time for the Missouri River Regional Library for over 10 years. She was a devoted member of Oak Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Guthrie, Missouri. Josephine enjoyed life to the fullest. She embraced everyone and wanted everyone to live life to the fullest. More than anything, she loved her family. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren. Josephine leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 57 years, Clarence Vaughan Sr. of Jefferson City; her two children: Clarence Vaughan Jr. (Ruthie L. Higginbottom) and Cavos "Darsel" Phauls (McNeal Phauls Jr.), both of Jefferson City; her sister: Mary V. Byers; sister-in-law: Stella Specks; brothers-in-law: Lesley Vaughan and Wesley Vaughan (Florence); five grandchildren: Le'Clarence J. Vaughan, Jada S. Vaughan, Jordan R. Horn, Angela R. Richmond, Louis S. Richmond Jr.; one great-grandchild: AlexzanDro Jorgie E.Z. Vaughan; nieces: Rebecca E. Crump (Corey Crump) and Melodie J. Anderson; nephew: Norris G. Byers; and numerous aunts, uncles, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; step-father: Richard L. Kemp; one grandchild: Cory J. Vaughan; sisters: Geraldine Kelly and Martha J. Gibson; and two sisters-in-law: Geraldine Holt and Myrtle Cave. Friends will be received from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 29, 2018, at Oak Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Guthrie. Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 29, 2018, at Oak Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Guthrie with Rev. Marion S. Mitchell officiating.
