Joseph Theodore Evers

Joseph Theodore Evers, 82, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Monday, November 5, 2018, at Westphalia Hills in Westphalia, Mo. He was born on January 19, 1936, in Meta, Mo., the son of Joseph and Catherine (Herrigon) Evers. In 1955, he was married in Meta, Mo. to Thersia A. Welschmeyer, who preceded him in death. A lifelong resident of the central Missouri area, Joe was employed for over 40 years as a mechanic for Leonard Barnhart Gravel Contracting. He prided himself on being able to fix anything with his hands and keep all kinds of equipment operating correctly. Joe also worked for a charcoal company and Ford in Meta, Mo. prior to his work with Leonard Barnhart. Joe was a modest and honest man that treasured spending time with his family. He also enjoyed fishing, BBQ's and always remembered swimming in the Sugar Creek Stream. A good family gathering was one of his favorite pastimes. Survivors include: his five sons, Joseph "Jae" Evers of Steedman, Mo., Francis Evers (Cindy) of Jefferson City, Mo., Anthony Evers (Tammy) of Jefferson City, Mo., Marvin Evers (Debbie) of New Bloomfield, Mo. and Norman Evers (Karla) of Jefferson City, Mo.; two daughters, Susanna Pearon of New Bloomfield, Mo. and Mamie Johnson of Jefferson City, Mo.; one sister, Marie; 32 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Thersia; one daughter, Geneva Saleny; two brothers, Sammy and Frank; three sisters, Betsy, Rita, and Margaret; a son-in-law, Randall Johnson and a brother-in-law, Louis. Visitation will be held at Freeman Mortuary from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Friday, November 9, 2018. Funeral service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Friday, November 9, 2018, in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Frank Whitney officiating. Private graveside services will be held at a later time.
