Richard L. Samson

Richard L. Samson, 68, of Lohman, passed away Friday, June 8, 2018, at his home, due to complications from surgery, surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 26, 1950, in Frankenstein, a son of the late Paul and Antonette (Troesser) Samson. He was a 1968 graduate of Fatima High School in Westphalia, and went on to graduate in 1972 from Lincoln University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics. Richard was united in marriage on April 14, 1973, in St. Martin's to Janet Eiken, who survives at the home. Richard worked for Capital Savings and Loan and later for JCD Flooring. He owned and operated FAB Building Center for many years. Richard also served on the Board of Directors at Capital Region Medical Center, where he was President for two years. He was a champion blackberry jelly maker who enjoyed fishing and hunting. He spent many hours outside and took great pride in his yard. The highlight of his week was playing cards with friends, family and neighbors. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Janet, of 45 years; two sons: James Samson (Andy) of New York, N.Y.; Wesley Samson (Melynda) of Kansas City, Mo.; two daughters: Leah Samson and Celina Samson, both of Jefferson City, Mo.; seven siblings: Pat Iven (Henry) of Lima, Ohio; Ray Samson (Chris) of Rolla, Mo.; Carolyn Koenigsfeld of Linn, Mo.; Vic Samson of Kansas City, Mo.; Mary Lea Rinkemeyer (Stanley) of Jefferson City, Mo.; Aggie Diemeke (Larry) Martinsburg, Mo.; Paulette Bottoms (Evan) of Chamois, Mo.; five grandchildren: Brody, Blake, Vivian, Isabella and Malayna; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his mother-in-law: Joanne Eiken. Memorial Services are pending for Sunday, July 1, 2018, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home.
