Raymond George Idel

Raymond George Idel, 92, of Owensville, Mo., passed away on Sunday, July 22, 2018, at Frene Valley Healthcare in Owensville. He was born on Oct. 2, 1925, to George and Lydia (Brinkman) Idel in Old Woollam. He was united in marriage on June 9, 1946, to Leona Hesemann at Union. They recently celebrated their 72nd anniversary. Raymond was a lifelong farmer and a professional electrician. He has been a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 257 for over 70 years. Raymond briefly enlisted in the US Navy in 1943. He was a current member of the Zion-St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Bay. When a previous member of the St. Peter's United Church of Christ, he served on the Church Council. As a supportive father, he enjoyed going to his children's school and church activities. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing pinochle. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Lydia Idel; daughter, Doris Ridder; and a sister at infancy. He is survived by his wife, Leona of the home; children, Robert "Chuck" Idel and wife Pam of Owensville, Roger Idel of Columbia, and Norma Anderson of Lake Ozark; son-in-law, Dale Ridder of Bay; by nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 24, from 4-8 p.m. at Gottenstroeter Chapel in Owensville. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 25, at 10:00 a.m. at Zion-St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Bay with Pastor Darrel Deeker and Pastor Stephen Crisman officiating. Burial will be in Countryside Memorial Gardens in Owensville. Memorials are requested to Zion-St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Bay. Arrangements entrusted to Gottenstroeter Funeral Home in Owensville.
