Kenneth Melloyd Young, 78, of Jefferson City, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 6, 2018, surrounded by his family. He was born on September 23, 1939 in Jefferson City, Missouri, a son of Herbert and Lucille Edwards Bagby. Kenneth graduated from Lincoln Laboratory in Jefferson City, Missouri. He had enlisted in the United States Air Force but while playing sports he was injured and could not continue on to active service. Soon after, he helped work on the Missouri State Capitol Building before becoming employed at Missouri Power and Light, now known as Ameren. Kenneth held several positions within the power company for more than 30 years until his retirement in the late 1990's, where he held the position of Supervisor. Kenneth greatly enjoyed building things, working on cars, playing sports, cutting his grass and traveling. More than anything, Kenneth lived for and cherished his grandchildren. He is survived by one son: Eric Young of Jefferson City; one daughter: Ann (Stephen Stanley) Young of Jefferson City; two grandsons: Sherik Young and Kendel Young; dearest friend: Michalene Tucker of Columbia; special friend: Beatrice Young of Jefferson City; nine nieces and nephews: Edward Fullbright of North Carolina, Gina Powell of Maryland, Donna Johnson of Kansas, Sharon Bagby and Shelly Bagby, both of Kansas City, Missouri, Sherry Bagby of Texas, Andrew Chandler of St. Louis, Pam Bagby and Roderick Bagby, both of Michigan. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter: Mary Katherine Young; two sisters: Della Fullbright and Margaret Katherine Chandler; one brother, James Herbert Bagby; and dearest friend, Odelia Glover. Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. on Friday, January 12, 2018 at Houser-Millard Funeral Chapel. Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, January 12, 2018 at Houser-Millard Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Longview Cemetery in Jefferson City. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Sherik and Kendel Young College Fund.
