Ernest Barker Perry Jr.

Ernest Barker Perry Jr., 85, of Hartsburg, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 19, 2018 at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City. He was born on August 10, 1932 in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Ernest Barker and Lillie M. (Riess) Perry Sr., who preceded him in death. He was united in marriage on December 17, 1952 in Yuma, Arizona to Marilyn Miller, who preceded him in death on December 22, 2002. He was a graduate of Southwest High School in St. Louis, Missouri. He proudly served our country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was a graduate of the University of Missouri-Rolla School of Mines with a degree in Engineering. He was a Professional Engineer and worked for the Missouri Department of Transportation until his retirement. Ernest was a Master Mason with the Jefferson City Lodge #43, Victoria Chapter #14, Order of the Eastern Star, a member of the Jefferson City V.F.W. Post 1003, and a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #5. He was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Jefferson City. He enjoyed coaching his son's baseball teams over the years and camping with family and friends. He and Marilyn enjoyed raising cattle on their farm, with the cattle affectionally called, "My Girls." Ernest is survived by one daughter: Ann M. (Johnnie Elliott) Perry of California, Missouri; one son: Ernest B. (Ann) Perry III of Middleton, Wisconsin; two grandchildren: Lillie Perry and Riess Perry of Middleton, Wisconsin; one step-grandson: John Ray (Roberta) Elliott Jr. of California, Missouri; two step-great grandchildren: Brent (Dayley) Elliott and Brandon Elliott; sisters and brothers-in-law: Guy and Carolyn Borrson of St. James, Missouri, Bill and Barb Miller of Wichita, Kansas, Sandy Perry of Lake Ozark, Missouri, Marilyn Wurth Perry of St. Louis, Missouri and Judy Perry Oglesby of Hopkinsville, Kentucky; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at Houser-Millard Funeral Chapel. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Houser-Millard Funeral Chapel with Rev. David Henry officiating. Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery in Jefferson City.
