Virgil Melvin Ott, 77, passed from this life to his heavenly home on Wednesday, January 24, 2018, at SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital in Jefferson City, with his wife by his side. He was born June 6, 1940, in Dayton, Ohio, to his parents Virgil and Frieda Ott. He was married in 1973, to Deborah Mullins Ott, who survives at the home. He was a long-time resident of the Eugene area. He was a pressman for 20 years in Ohio before he relocated to Mid-Missouri to work for Von Hoffmann Press for another 20 years. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, gardening and watching sports. He is survived by two sons, Joseph Ott and Thomas Ott (Elaine) of Dayton, Ohio; by one 'adopted' daughter, Tabby Oswald (Matt) of California, Mo.; by one brother, Frank Ott, Tennessee; by one sister, Marsha Ott, Tennessee; by seven grandchildren, Melanie Ott, Alex Ott, Luke Kelly Ott, Austin Oswald, Lucas Oswald, Lakota Oswald and Anabelle Oswald; and by two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Jennell Ott. A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, February 3, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at First Assembly of God in Jefferson City.
