Laverne Genieve Holtmeyer, age 66, of St. Elizabeth, passed away on Monday, January 29, 2018, at her home. She was born in Tuscumbia on March 15, 1951, daughter of the late John Martin and Lorraine Anna (Kliethermes) Luebbert. On July 2, 1977, in St. Elizabeth, Laverne married Frank Holtmeyer Jr., who survives at their home. Laverne was a 1969 graduate of St. Elizabeth R-IV. After high school she attended St. Mary's School of Nursing and received her RN degree in 1972. Laverne was a dedicated nurse at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City for 46 years. She cared for thousands of patients throughout her nursing career and she treated each one with the utmost care and compassion. At home Laverne was the backbone of her family. She would often call and text her children to see how the family and grandchildren were doing. There was no greater joy for Laverne than being with her family, especially her grandchildren, who were her absolute pride and joy. The community lost a wonderful woman who will be forever remembered in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. Laverne was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in St. Elizabeth. In addition to her husband, Frank Holtmeyer Jr., she is also survived by three sons, Michael Holtmeyer and wife April, Randy Holtmeyer and wife Elizabeth, and Steven Holtmeyer and wife Ashley, all of St. Elizabeth; one daughter, Lisa Duncan and husband Justin of Iberia; nine grandchildren, Kylie, Jacob, Kaisen, Cash, Elaina, Koyier, Josey, Iva, and Rosslin; two sisters, Dolores Frey (Albert) and Dianne Holtmeyer (late husband, Joel); and one brother, John Luebbert Jr., all of St. Elizabeth. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Lorraine Luebbert, and her father and mother-in-law, Frank Sr. and Ruby Holtmeyer. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 2, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in St. Elizabeth with Fr. Jeremy Secrist officiating. Interment will be held in St. Lawrence Cemetery in St. Elizabeth. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m., on Thursday, February 1, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in St. Elizabeth.
