Jerome Oligschlaeger

Jerome J. Oligschlaeger, 91, of Jefferson City, passed away on Sunday, December 23, 2018 at Heisinger Bluffs. He was born on April 18, 1927 in St. Elizabeth, Missouri, a son of the late Frank and Matilda (Schwieterman) Oligschlaeger. He was united in marriage to Lorraine Bode on October 1, 1949, in St. Elizabeth, Missouri. Jerome was a graduate of St. Elizabeth High School. He enlisted in the United States Navy in October of 1944 and served on the USS Maryland as a mail clerk. Upon returning home, he worked for Schwieterman Home Appliance for 10 years, and then served as a route salesman for over 29 years for American Linen Supply Company until his retirement in 1986. He then worked for the Missouri House of Representatives as a Doorkeeper until 2007. He was an active member of the Cathedral of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, Bishop Michael F. McAuliff Counsel 12992. Jerome cherished spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 69 years: Lorraine Oligschlaeger of Jefferson City; son: David Oligschlaeger (Agnes) of Tulsa, Oklahoma; grandsons: Brian Oligschlaeger (Lilli) of Aledo, Texas; Eric Oligschlaeger (Caitlin) of Fairway, Kansas and Jeff Oligschlaeger (Laury) of St. Petersburg, Florida; and great-grandchildren: Mackenzie and Colin Oligschlaeger of Aledo, Texas. He was preceded in death by a son: Daryl Oligschlaeger. Friends will be received from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 29, 2018 at the Cathedral of St. Joseph. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at the Cathedral of St. Joseph with Fr. Louis M. Nelen officiating. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy can be made to the Cathedral of St. Joseph Foundation or the Alzheimer's Association.
