Leroy Robert Knernschield

Leroy Robert Knernschield, 88, of Centertown, passed away Saturday, December 15, 2018, at Oak Tree Villas. He was born August 28, 1930, in Cole County, the son of the late Arthur John and Frieda Mary (Hackman) Knernschield. He was united in marriage on May 18, 1974, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jefferson City to Dolores Distler who survives. Leroy spent most of his life working on the farm and started driving a tractor when he was 12 years old. Leroy also worked for over 24 years at Jefferson City Auto Supply. He was a member of St. Martin Catholic Church in St. Martins and a former member of the Knights of Columbus. Survivors include his wife, Dolores Knernschield; many nieces and nephews, and other extended family members. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Wednesday, December 19, 2018, at St. Martin Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be 12 p.m. Wednesday at St. Martin Catholic Church with the Rev. Mark Porterfield officiating. Burial will be in St. Martin Catholic Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Hospice Compassus or to St. Martin Catholic Church.
