John Gregory "Greg" Thurston

John Gregory "Greg" Thurston, 62, of Jefferson City, passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2018. He was born June 6, 1956, in Jefferson City, a son of John "Jack" W. Thurston Jr. and Neva Gene (Godman) Thurston. He attended school in Kansas City and Jefferson City. Greg worked at Capitol Projects/Sheltered Workshop for over 15 years. He also volunteered at Wolfner Library, Missouri Regional Library and St. Mary's Hospital. Greg was a member of Friedens United Church of Christ in Brazito. He was an artist, sold paintings and has been in art shows. He enjoyed bicycling on the Katy Trail and loved to travel. He has traveled all over the United States, Canada, Paris, France and London, England. Greg also loved his dog, Mr. G. Greg and his mother have done many presentations Nationally and Statewide with the National Association of Development Disabilities Counsel. Greg is survived by his mother: Neva G. Thurston of Jefferson City. He was preceded in death by his father: John "Jack" Thurston Jr. on February 17, 2007. Friends will be received from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, August 19, 2018, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 20, 2018, at the Friedens United Church of Christ in Brazito, with Rev. Wendell Stoneburner officiating. Interment will follow in the Friedens United Church of Christ Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Cole County Residential Services.
