Rose Marie Kirby, 87, Jefferson City, passed away on Tuesday, April 17, 2018, at Oak Tree Villas. She was born February 26, 1931, in Bedford, Indiana, the daughter of the late James Herschel and Catherine Lorene (Miles) Cannon. Rose was a 1949 graduate of Washington Catholic High School and received her LPN in 1977 from Jefferson City School of Practical Nursing, now known as the Nichols Career Center. She was united in marriage on Christmas morning, December 25, 1950, in Washington, Indiana, to James Walter Kirby who resides at the home. After her marriage, she lived all over the United States and Guam during her husband's 23 years of service in the United States Navy. A homemaker, Rose was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church; Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary; Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 1003 Auxiliary; Fleet Reserve Auxiliary; and ETC Group. She liked to play cards, gamble on the boats, sew and was active in a sewing group. Together with her husband, they loved to square dance and belonged to the Capital Squares. In addition to her husband of 67 years, she is survived by two daughters, Deborah (Timothy) Butler, Matthews, North Carolina; Rebecca (Michael) Voiles, Jefferson City; three granddaughters, Holly (Martyn) Smith, Kristina (Phil) Bellin, Jaclyn (Brett) Alter; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Margaret Casper, Washington, Indiana; one brother-in-law, Dan (Sally) Kirby, Cottage Grove, Oregon; and a sister-in-law, Mary Kay (John) Mann, Jasper, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Norma Cannon; a sister, Mary Catherine Cannon; and a brother-in-law, John Casper. Visitation will be 10-11 a.m., Saturday, April 21, 2018, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m., Saturday, April 21, 2018, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. Cesar Anicama officiating.
