Thomas Stogsdill, 80, of Jefferson City, passed away Monday, September 18, 2017, at SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital in Jefferson City. He was born on October 6, 1936, in Imboden, Arkansas, the son of Forrest and Bertha (Garrett) Stogsdill, who preceded him in death. He was united in marriage on November 3, 1962, in Pocahontas, Arkansas to Erma Rice, who survives of the home. He was a graduate of Sloan-Hendrix Academy in Imboden Arkansas. He proudly served our country in the United States Army. He retired from the BNSF railroad, (formerly Frisco Railroad) after over 40 years of service as a telegrapher and agent. Tom was a devoted family man who loved to hunt and fish with his sons and grandsons. He and his family enjoyed many camping and traveling adventures together through the years. He was a very humble, quiet man that always enjoyed people and often surprised them with his keen sense of humor. He was loved by many because of his kind and loving nature. Tom truly was a peacemaker and always seemed to see the good in people. He had a strong faith in God and lived it by loving the Lord with all of his heart and his neighbor as himself. Tom will be greatly missed by his family and loved ones who are saddened by his absence but look forward to that day when they will be reunited in the Heavenly home. He is also survived by four children: Thomas (Debbie) Stogsdill Jr. of Gordonsville, Tennessee, Sean Stogsdill of Jefferson City; Kathy (Mike) Dunn of Sunrise Beach, Missouri, Susan (Tim) Yost of Greenville, South Carolina; five grandchildren: Candice (Dave) Sanders of Jefferson City, Parker Cook, Dalton Stogsdill, Morgan Stogsdill and Sydney Stogsdill; two sisters: Elvena English of Pocahontas, Arkansas and Carmeta Bagwell of Imboden, Arkansas; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was also preceded in death by four brothers: W. J. Stogsdill, James Stogsdill, T. C. Stogsdill and Alvie Stogsdill. Family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 23, 2017, at Houser-Millard Funeral Chapel. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 23, 2017, at Houser-Millard Funeral Chapel with full military honors to follow in the Circle of Honor. Interment is private for the family.
