Dennis Lawson Reedy 66, of Des Moines, passed into life Tuesday, October 24, 2017. Dennis was born October 24, 1951, in Jefferson City, Mo., a son of Drs. Sidney J. and Hilda Lawson Reedy. He was a 1969 graduate of Jefferson City High School and a graduate of Drake University with a BA degree in 1973. He remained in Des Moines for the rest of his life. Dennis worked in production and engineering at KRNT-TV and KCCI-TV for 43 years, retiring in 2016. One of his duties was to perform as "Harry the Beeeast", sidekick to Dolph Pulliam on the children's programs, "Dolph's Cartoon Corner", and "1-2-3". As the industry changed, Dennis educated himself on the broadcast technologies of film, video-tape and computers. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 347 for 40 years. Dennis Reedy is best known for his work ethic and dedication to quality in television broadcasting, as well as his sense of humor, enjoyment of music and television, and love of the St Louis Cardinals and The Kansas City Chiefs. Dennis is survived by his wife, Dana (McClintock) of Beaverdale; a brother, Sidney Reedy of University City, Mo.; two nieces, one nephew and a plethora of family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Michael. Graveside services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 28, at Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines. The family will receive friends from 5-7:30 p.m. Friday, October 27, at Iles-Westover Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kavanagh House HCI Services.
