She was the third daughter of Montie Paul Bugbee and Katie Merle Steinmetz Bugbee. Val was so very proud of her parents and to be a Bugbee. She graduated with her class of 1948 from Jefferson City High School, "The Jays". She always spoke highly of those friends and days of her life and she was famous for flashing the Bugbee smile. In 1969, together Robert and Val made a creative change that would provide both time together and a quality life with their children; the family business Henderson House was born. The company, along with Robert and Val, all retired in the late 80's. Robert preceded Val in death in 2001. In 2009, Val relocated to Nashville, Tenn., a place she had lived before and fallen in love with many years prior.
