Jane Conley (Wood) Ferguson, 85, of Eldon, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 17, 2017 at Summit Villa in Holts Summit, Missouri. She was born on February 29, 1932 in Evanston, Illinois, the daughter of Rolland P. and Emily (Conley) Wood, who preceded her in death. She was united in marriage on September 20, 1952 in Evanston, Illinois to Claude Ferguson, who preceded her in death. She was a 1950 graduate of Beaumont High School in Beaumont, Texas. She was a 1952 graduate of Stephens College in Columbia and also graduated from Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri. She taught elementary school for many years and worked at JC Penney and Jefferson City area day care facilities. Jane enjoyed the city life until she fell in love with Claude. They moved to the country and started a new life together. She learned how to create bountiful gardens and cook delicious meals for her family. She taught herself how to can fruits and vegetables and created many beautiful pieces that she sewed. She was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling and visiting historic sites. Most of all, Jane loved her family and the memories they made will be cherished forever. She loved the Lord and was a member of the First Christian Church of Eldon. She is survived by one daughter: Sue (Taylor) Crismon of Eldon; one son: John Ferguson of Eldon; four grandchildren: Jessie Ferguson of Los Angeles, California, Meghan (Jeff) Bezaire of Chicago, Illinois, Joseph (Katherine) Crismon of O'Fallon, Illinois and Drew Crismon of St. Louis, Missouri; and three great-grandchildren. Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at the First Christian Church in Eldon. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at the First Christian Church in Eldon with Rev. Dr. Bill Fogelson officiating. Interment will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at Newtonia I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Newtonia, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to First Christian Church of Eldon.
