Jack Lee Miller, age 86, of Jefferson City, Mo., peacefully passed away Monday, November 13, 2017, where he resided at Good Shepherd Care Center in Versailles, Mo. Jack was born June 11, 1931, a son to the latter Rudy and Clara in Marshall, Mo. Following graduation from high school in Linn, Mo., Jack enlisted in the U.S. Army on October 17, 1949 and belonged to the famous 82nd and 101st Airborne, then was deployed to Korea where he served as a Corporal 3rd Ranger during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on October 8, 1952. Jack's awards and medals are as follows: three Purple Hearts, Combat Infantry Badge, Bronze Star, Korean Service Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, and National Defense Service Medal. Jack was united in marriage to Dorothea Ann Jett of Linn, Mo. on March 5, 1953. Jack was preceded in death by Dorothea on April 9, 2009. After the war Jack worked as a photographer for the criminal laboratory for the Missouri State Highway Patrol and as a construction worker. Jack held office as a Chairman of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) of Chapter 17, Jefferson City, Mo. Jack was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved to bird watch, watch the Cardinals baseball team play, and visit with family. Jack is survived by: two sons, Michael L. Miller Sr. and his wife Pat, and Phil Miller; four grandchildren, Sarah (Miller) Tannehill and her husband Kelly, Michael Miller Jr. and his wife Kristin, Amy Miller, and Aurora Stines; three great-grandchildren, Ariana Miller, Benjamin Miller, and Ethan Miller. A graveside military funeral service will be held on Saturday,November 25, 2017 at 10 a.m. at the Community of Christ Church Cemetery located Highway 50 East in Linn, Mo.
