Gary Wayne Bond, 73, of Holts Summit, Missouri, passed away Monday, May 22, 2017, at SSM Health/St. Mary's Hospital in Jefferson City, Missouri. He was born March 2, 1944, in Russellville, Missouri, son of the late Paul and Marie (Blank) Bond. He was united in marriage on July 29, 1964, in Russellville, to Wanda Lee Bechtel, who survives at their home. Gary dedicated 32 years to the food service industry, starting at the Missouri Blvd. McDonalds in 1959. He then went on to work for the Red Lobster restaurant chain in 1973 in Nashville, Tennessee and Spartanburg, South Carolina. He rejoined the McDonalds organization in 1976 in Jefferson City, where he worked until 1988, when he took over ownership of J&J Car Care until his retirement in 2003. Gary was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. He spent his retirement years surrounded by his wife, children and grandchildren, passing on his wisdom and his love for the St. Louis Cardinals and his Country. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #2693 since 1978. Along with his wife Wanda Lee, Gary is also survived by a son: Gary W. Bond II of Jefferson City; a daughter: Cindy Lee Piant of Jefferson City; a sister: Pamela M. Bond of Granite City, Ill.; a brother-in-law: Bill Frey of Jasper, Ala.; three grandchildren: Clinton W. Bond (wife Emma) of Independence, Mo.; Zachary J. Bond of Jefferson City; Dane D. Piant of Jefferson City; one great-grandchild: Remy W. Bond of Independence, Mo.; and many nieces and nephews. Gary was also preceded in death by a sister: Carol A. Frey; and a brother: Michael D. Bond. A Celebration of Gary's Life will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Thursday, May 25, 2017, at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Club, 1411 Missouri Blvd., Jefferson City, MO 65109. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Cancer Society.
