Carol Jean Houser

Mrs. Carol Jean Houser, age 71, of Holts Summit passed away Monday, May 8, 2017 at Villa Marie Skilled Nursing. She was born December 27, 1945 in Kirksville, MO., a daughter of the late Fredrick H. & Lila Mae Allen Lay. She was united in marriage on June 27, 1964 in Kirksville to Fredrick George Houser who survives at their home. She was a 1964 graduate of Kirksville High School. Carol was employed with the Jefferson City Public School District, and as an aide in home health care. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, crocheting, and was a collector of many things. She is survived by her husband, Fred; one daughter: Tamela Jean Houser of Jefferson City; one son: Richard Houser of Jefferson City; four sisters: Betty Wheeler, Karen Burns, Sharon Pyle, Shirley Kaestner; three brothers: John Lay, Fred Allen Lay, Charles Lay. A private family celebration of life is scheduled at a future date. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Hospice Compassus in care of the funeral home.
