Luella Frances Long, of Carthage, formerly of Jefferson City, stepped into eternity Friday, March 10, 2017, surrounded by her family, the Lord peacefully took her home. She was a resident of Oak Pointe Assisted Living Facility in Carthage, Missouri. Luella was born in Jefferson City on March 7, 1923. She is the daughter of the late Conrad G. Hildebrand and Lula Ellen (Stolte). Luella was the youngest of four children. \ Luella was united in marriage to Marvin R. Long on June 14, 1942. He preceded her in death on January 16, 1995. Luella was a homemaker. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, fishing, reading and shopping with her daughters. She was a volunteer at St. Mary's Hospital in Jefferson City, and made many quilts with the Martha's Circle ladies at the United Church of Christ in Jefferson City. She is survived by seven children: Marvin (Gene) and wife Kathy, Antelope, California, Constance Carrier, Lakeland, Florida, daughter-in-law Dianne L. Long (Michael), D'Ann K. Wilson (Phillip), Reeds, Missouri, Stephanie E. Miller (Dennis), Columbia, Missouri, Doris E. Tatum (Calvin), Carthage, Missouri, Andrea L. Hoover, (Tony) of Jefferson City, and Mary Jo Long of Columbia, Missouri. Two children predeceased her: Jeannette Lois Rice, September 5, 2008, and Michael Ray Long, December 2, 2013, one daughter-in-law: Sharon Long, December 8, 2010, one son-in-law; James Dale Carrier, February 24, 2017, one grandson: Tristan Alexander Carrier, June 9, 2000, one great-grandson: Mason Evan Heese, August 23, 1998, and one great- granddaughter: Landree Faith Heese, February 2, 2013. She was blessed with 26 grandchildren, and 37 great- grandchildren at the time of this writing. Friends will be received from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday March 15, 2017, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home in Jefferson City, Missouri. Services will be held immediately following with Brother Ryan Tatum officiating. Interment will private for the family. In lieu of flowers expression of sympathy may be made to the Children's Miracle Network.
