Mr. Clifford W. Peters, age 54 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Saturday, June 17, 2017, at home surrounded by his family. Cliff was born February 6, 1963 in Jefferson City, Mo., the son of Jordan D. and Ann (Souder) Peters. He was married on April 6, 1984 in Jefferson City, Mo. to Tracy Lynn Blank and from this union his daughter, Hayley, was born. Tracy and Cliff remained close friends until his passing. A lifelong resident of the Jefferson City area, Cliff was a 1981 graduate of Jefferson City High School and a 1983 graduate of Linn State Technical College in Linn, Mo. He worked for over 30 years as a private contractor in the nuclear energy field as a Quality Control Engineer and Field Civil Engineer until his retirement in 2016. Throughout his career he worked mostly in nuclear power plants during outages, traveling to inspect many nuclear power plants throughout the country. His expertise in his field extended into structural steel, concrete work, bolting, rebar, welding, hydrostatic testing and more. He made a tremendous effort to help everyone understand how work was to be done correctly and was considered a teacher as much as he was an engineer or inspector. Because of these qualities, Cliff made many good friends who respected his work and mentorship along the way. Cliff always found peace being outdoors, especially if he was fishing, canoeing, hunting, or looking for mushrooms. He loved spending time on his motorcycle and cherished any time with his family. Survivors include: one daughter, Hayley Cleveland and her husband Wayne of Tipton, Mo.; a brother, Clay Peters and his wife Brenda of Jefferson City, Mo.; a sister, Paula Thompson of Jefferson City, Mo.; a granddaughter, Aihva "A.J." Cleveland of Tipton, Mo.; his beloved dogs, Spike and R.D.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. A private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Jefferson City Animal Shelter, 2308 Hyde Park Rd, Jefferson City, MO 65109. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary. www.freemanmortuary.com
