Linda Louise Spaar, 74, of Jefferson City, passed away Saturday, February 4, 2017 at SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital. She was born November 13, 1942 in Hoosik Falls, New York, the daughter of the late Stiles and Margaret (Davock) Smith. She was united in marriage to George Spaar. He preceded her in death on October 29, 2012. Linda was a graduate of St. Mary's Academy in Hoosik Falls, New York and received her LPN degree from Mary McClellan School of Practical Nursing in Cambridge, New York. Linda was a LPN for over 50 years working in New York and Florida before settling in Jefferson City where she was employed with SSM/St. Mary's for 30 years. She cared deeply for those entrusted to her care. She was loyal to family and friends, and had a soft spot for her dog Sadie. She had a love of nature and especially enjoyed watching the birds at home. She is survived by two step-sons: John Spaar of Lee's Summit and Joe Spaar (Renee) of Odessa; four grandchildren: Ellen Longley (Jaremy), Blanton Spaar, Hannah Spaar and Hallie Aulbert (Donald); one great-grandchild: Porter Spaar; and nephews: Richard Wirmusky, AJ Wirmusky, Frank Wirmusky and Peter Wirmusky. She was preceded in death by one sister: Faye Wirmusky. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 10, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Fr. Don Antweiler officiating. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Humane Society, Callaway Hills Animal Shelter or the Jefferson City Animal Shelter.
