Gary Douglas Steelman

Gary Douglas "Possum" Steelman, 63, of Holts Summit, passed away Friday, June 2, 2017, at his home in Holts Summit. He was born on August 5, 1953 in Jefferson City, Missouri, the son of Elgin Floyd and Mary Katherine (Koelling) Steelman. He was united in marriage on September 28, 1974 in Jefferson City to Debbie Hollandsworth, who survives of the home. He attended Jefferson City Public Schools and Nichols Career Center where he studied HVAC. He worked for ABB for 35 years in the various positions until his retirement in 2008. He then worked for JCMG for a year in the Maintenance Department. Gary enjoyed barbecuing cook-offs: "Awesome Possum BBQ", hunting wildlife, and casting a line waiting for the big fish. He spent time outdoors and enjoyed camping with his family and grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother: Mary Henley-Linhardt of Jefferson City; step-mother: Arlene Steelman of Columbia; two daughters: Donna Kay (Mike) Bergman of Russellville and Crystal Gayle Steelman of New Bloomfield; one sister: Becky Luecknotte of Tipton; sister-in-law: Phyllis Steelman of Jefferson City; one uncle: Paul (Judy) Koelling; one aunt: Annie Woods; five grandchildren: Skylar Steelman, Kaytlyn Strawderman, Riley Strawderman, Brett Michael Bergman and Spencer Chase Lampe; two great-grandchildren: Jayce Lampe and Callum Bergman; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father: Floyd Steelman; his paternal grandparents: Joshua and Anna Steelman; his maternal grandparents: Frank and Virginia Koelling; one son-in-law: Christopher Steelman; one brother: Dan Steelman; his step-brother: Charles Duenow; nephew: Kyle Lueckenotte; and several uncles and aunts. Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 9, 2017 at Houser-Millard Funeral Chapel. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 9, 2017 at Houser-Millard Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery in Jefferson City.
