Mr. Thomas E. Norris, age 68 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Thursday, June 22, 2017, at Oak Tree Villas. Thomas was born on July 19, 1948, in St. Louis, a son of Edgar Earl and Alice Leon (Elliott) Norris. He was raised in Ferguson and graduated from Northview High School in 1968. Thomas was loyal and true to his friends and he cared deeply for his family. He always did his best for his parents, as they did for him. He knew everyones birthday and anniversary, and we depended on his uncanny ability to remind us of those dates. He worked hard at his jobs, and was proud that he paid taxes and earned a pension from Christian Hospital. A resident of Jefferson City for the past 10 years, Thomas worked at Capitol Projects (2007-2016). While living in Ferguson, he had been employed with Valley Industries in Florissant, and worked in food service at Christian Hospital and Howard Johnson in Hazelwood. Thomas attended St. Joseph Cathedral in Jefferson City, when he was able, and found solace in his faith. Each year he looked forward to the new Fords, especially the red Mustang. Thomas was an active member of bowling leagues and social activities. He especially enjoyed being on the go with family and friends, trips to see family in Alton, Illinois and LaGrange, Georgia. In recent years he loved attending Camp Wonderland at the Lake of the Ozarks with friends. His family includes: two brothers, Bob Norris (Robin) of Tebbetts and Richard Norris of Raleigh, North Carolina; two sisters, Judith Shaw of Burbank, California and Ellen Norris-Taylor (David) of Reno, Nevada; two nephews, Bradley Norris (Barbara) of Troy and Paul Taylor of Reno, Nevada; four nieces, Kimberly Baysinger (Darren) of St. Charles, Colleen Norris (Brandon) of East Grand Rapids, Michigan, Julie Taylor of San Francisco, California and Megan Norris (Matt) of Arvada, Colorado; and five great-nephews, Michael Norris, Jack Baysinger, Jared Baysinger, Mathew Norris, and Nico Norris Schad. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Ann Elizabeth Norris; a brother-in-law, Vern Shaw; a sister-in-law, Linda Steger; and one nephew, Steven Shaw. Visitation will be held at Freeman Mortuary from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 14, 2017, with a funeral service following in the Freeman Chapel at 1:00 p.m. with Deacon Al Brand officiating. Graveside services and interment will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, July 15, 2017, at Memorial Park Cemetery in St. Louis with Pastor Mike Trautman officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Capitol Projects or Cole County Residential Services. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary. www.freemanmortuary.com
