Mary J. Hiatte, 85, of Holts Summit, passed away Sunday, January 1, 2017, at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City. She was born March 7, 1931, in Jefferson City, a daughter of the late Elizabeth Jackson and stepfather Howard Jackson. She attended the Columbia and Jefferson City Public Schools. On May 12, 1951, Mary was united in marriage in Cedar City, to Ralph B. Hiatte, who preceded her in death on February 27, 2007. A lifelong resident of mid-Missouri, Mary worked for Tweedies Shoe Factory, Von Hoffmann Press, Scholastic Magazine, and Westinghouse for 16 years until her retirement in 1988. She was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Jefferson City. Mary enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, reading her Bible, walking, cooking, gardening, and following her grandchildren's sports activities with her husband. Mary is survived by her two sons: Ralph W. Hiatte (wife Mary) of Holts Summit, and Darrell L. Hiatte (wife Lynette) of Holts Summit; three grandchildren: Michael Hiatte (wife Lacey) of Wentzville, Amy Miller (husband Jason) of Columbia, Lisa Hiatte of Holts Summit; three great-grandchildren: Melissa and Landon Hiatte, and Luke Miller; and one sister: Betty Long of Hartsburg. Mary was also preceded in death by a son: David B. Hiatte in 1959. Friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 4, 2017, at Slater-Millard Family Funeral Chapel in Holts Summit. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 5, 2017, at Slater-Millard Family Funeral Chapel in Holts Summit, with Pastor Lowell Perkins officiating. Interment will follow at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens in Jefferson City. Expressions of sympathy may be made to First Assembly of God Church in Jefferson City.
