Clyde Farmer

Clyde Farmer, 68, of Jefferson City, passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2017, following a lengthy illness. Clyde was born on February 19, 1948, to parents, Odus and Jean Farmer. He was united in marriage on February 2, 1974, to Jeanine Stutte. Clyde attended high school in Bolivar, Mo., and graduated from Southwest Baptist University with a degree in Sociology. He was in the Army Reserves for several years earning the rank of Staff Sargent. Clyde moved to Jefferson City in 1972 to accept a position with the Division of Family Services, Department of Social Services where he met his wife, Jeannine Stutte. He retired from the Department of Social Services in 2003. Clyde was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Jeannine Farmer of the home; his son, Sean Farmer (Jessica) of California, Mo.; three grandchildren, Rebekah, Emma and Connor; his brother, Richard Farmer (Kay) of Bloomington, Ill.; his brother-in-law, George Freiner of Jefferson City, Mo.; his son-in-law, Daniel Mertens of Richmond Heights, Mo.; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by one son, Grant Farmer. Memorial contributions are suggested to Common Ground, a Cooperative Ministry of First United Methodist Church and partnering Jefferson City congregations. A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2017, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Jefferson City where Clyde was a member. A memorial service will follow. Cremations services were handled by Heartland Cremation and Burial Society.
