Charles "Charlie" Wesley Clarkston, 75, of Jefferson City, passed away Thursday, February 2, 2017, at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City. He was born January 11, 1942 in Sturgeon, the son of the late John Wesley and Jennie (Holzer) Clarkston. He was united in marriage to Mary Smith, who preceded him in death. Charles attended Our Lady of the Snows School in Mary's Home. He was employed as a bartender at VFW Post 1003 and also the Knights of Columbus in Jefferson City. He was also a brick layer and loved to play bingo. Survivors include: daughters, Tina Coffelt, Donna Litton, Melinda Knox and Dora Edwards; son, Robert Bryan; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; siblings, Lawrence Clarkston, William "Bill" Clarkston (Helen), Mary Jane Doerhoff (Rowland), all of Jefferson City, Wilburn Clarkston of Westphalia, Ruth Clarkston, Darrell "Cotton" Clarkston (Joyce), Charyl Clarkston; and a sister-in-law, Rita Clarkston, all of Jefferson City. He was preceded in death by one granddaughter and one great-granddaughter; two sisters, Evelyn Thoenen (Alfred) and Louise Weed; a brother, James "Jim" Clarkston; and a sister-in-law, Helen Marie Clarkston. Funeral services were held Monday, February 6 at Phillips Funeral Home of Eldon. Burial followed at Our Lady of the Snows Cemetery in Mary's Home. Memorials in his name are suggested to Our Lady of the Snows Cemetery in Mary's Home, or in care of the family. Arrangements under the direction of Phillips Funeral Home of Eldon.
