Virginia "Ginny" H. Hillman

Virginia "Ginny" H. Hillman, 78, formerly of Jefferson City, passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2016, at Ozark Riverview Manor. She was born on September 24, 1938, in Grand Rapids, Mich. to the late John James and Mildred Ann (Secora) Tompkins. She was united in marriage on June 9, 1957, in Fairfield, Iowa, to James Hillman, who preceded her in death on May 2, 2002. While raising her family, Ginny went back to school and earned her degree from Lincoln University in 1977. She worked for the Department of Social Services from 1977 through 1989 in Medical Services. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Ozark, MO and loved singing in the church choir and with the Sweet Adeline's. Her enjoyment was crafts, making cards, sewing, cross stitch and quilting. Earlier in her life she was a member of the church quilting circle, the Rio Grande Valley Quilt Guild and a member to the Mid-Mo Campers. The Lord called Ginny home where she now sings in the choir with the angels. She is survived by her four children: John Hillman, Robert Hillman (Denise), Judith Zemke (Mark Evans) all of Jefferson City and Susan Eastin (Tim) of Ozark; sister: Pendleton "Penny" Bartley of Butler, Pa.; brother: Daniel Tompkins (Barbara) of Butler, Pa.; six grandchildren: Danielle H. Zemke, Zachariah P. Eastin, Gracie A. Hillman, Andrew J. Zemke, Mariah N. Eastin and Ronald J. Hillman. Ginny was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Celebration of life will be held graveside at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 8, 2016, at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Music Ministry of First Baptist Church of Ozark, 1400 W. Jackson, Ozark, MO 65721.
