Leroy Gordon

Mr. Leroy Gordon, age 77 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., formerly of Holts Summit, Mo., passed away Sunday, November 20, 2016 at Capital Region Medical Center. Leroy was born on May 9, 1939 in Jefferson City, Mo., a son of Roy and Maggie (Gilmore) Gordon. He was married on April 18, 1959 in Mokane, Mo. to Juanita Clingman, who preceded him in death on June 15, 1990. He later married Janet (Fuchs) Leslie on June 27, 1996 in Sullivan, Mo. A lifelong resident of the central Missouri area, Leroy attended Jefferson City High School. Leroy was proud to be employed as a welding supervisor with Danuser Machine Company in Fulton, Mo. for 39 years until he retired on February 12, 2002. One of Leroy's greatest hobbies was fox hunting the majority of his life. He thoroughly enjoyed running his dogs and hunting foxes throughout the Midwest. He was a member of the Callaway County Fox Hunter's Association and the Missouri State Fox Hunter's Association. He always cherished time with his family and loved to be around them. Survivors include: his wife of 20 years, Janet Gordon; one son, Jeffery Gordon (wife Mary) of Fulton, Mo.; one step-daughter, Stephanie Swayze (husband Don) of Hermann, Mo.; one brother, Robert Gordon of Holts Summit, Mo.; one sister-in-law, Catherine Vaughn (husband Robert) of Raeford, N.C.; five grandchildren, Elizabeth Miles (husband Clayton), Leanne Ross (husband Brian), Lee Gordon (wife Monika), Austin Gordon, and Erin Gordon; two step-grandchildren, Rachel and Katelyn Swayze; and four great-grandchildren, Morgan Ross, Mason Ross, Owen Miles, and Evan Miles. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Juanita Gordon; and one son, Gregory Gordon on October 15, 2015. Private graveside services and inurnment will be held at Link Cemetery in Wainwright, Mo. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.
