Corey Lee Kramel, 22, of California, Mo., passed away Monday, October 31, 2016, at the University Hospital in Columbia, Mo. Corey was born in Jefferson City on June 1, 1994, the son of Roger and Tracy (Korte) Kramel. Corey was a dedicated servant to his country and had a huge impact on his hometown. He was a friend to many and most importantly, he was a loved and adored brother, son and engaged to the love of his life. He was an all around athlete, excelled at football, baseball, and graduated from California High School in 2012. He attended the First Baptist Church in California. Throughout high school he worked at California Construction Supplies. Corey served in the U.S. Army with honor and integrity and after completing his basic training at Fort Benning he rose to a Unit leadership position while stationed at Fort Lewis, Seattle, Washington. After returning home from the Army, Corey worked for A&D Construction of California until this August, and was currently working at Negwer Materials in Columbia. Corey loved to ride dirt bikes or anything extreme with a motor. It all started with the 1980 Yamaha that Corey would always ride over the gravel pile. He always did his own thing no matter what others thought. He always had a smile on his face and made friends wherever he went. He loved spending time with his friends and family. Corey embraced each day to its fullest. Along with his parents, Roger and Tracy Kramel of California, Mo., Corey is survived by: two brothers, Ethan Kramel (fiancée Kalie Clennin) and Dylan Kramel of California; Corey's fiancée, Abby Elizabeth Lueckenotte of Columbia; maternal grandmother, Lorene Korte of California; paternal grandparents, Nora Kramel of California and Robert Kramel of Boonville; aunts; uncles; cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Walt "Papa" Korte, and great-grandparents, Gene "Gaga" and Evelyn Grapes. Visitation will be on Friday November 4, 2016, from 4-8 p.m. at the California First Baptist Church Family Life Center. Funeral Services will be held at the First Baptist Church Sanctuary on Saturday, November 5, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. with Mr. Casey Malley and Rev. Ken Mathes officiating with burial following at the California City Cemetery with full military honors.
