Alvina Margaret Boehmer

Alvina Margaret Boehmer, 89, of Jefferson City, passed away Sunday, May 8, 2016, peacefully at her home surrounded by family. She was born November 10, 1926, in Freeburg, Mo., a daughter of the late George A. and Eleanor (Welschmeyer) Pope. She attended Holy Family Catholic School in Freeburg, Mo. On June 15, 1946, Alvina was united in marriage in Rich Fountain, Mo., to Sylvester Joseph Boehmer, who preceded her in death on July 20, 2000. Alvina was a housekeeper from 1940-1969, and then worked for Von Hoffman Press from 1969-1975, and Scholastic Inc. from 1979 until her retirement in 1991. She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Jefferson City, the St. Gerard Card Club, and the Ladies Sodality. Alvina enjoyed helping others, spending time with her family, quilting, cooking, and playing cards. Alvina is survived by: son, Stephen A. (Julie) Boehmer of Lee's Summit; daughter, Mary Kay (Darryl "Chuck") Hager of Henley; three sisters, Loretta "Patsy" Rademan, Emma Scheulen and Doris Lewis; five grandchildren, Stephen (Kara) Boehmer, Seth (Kristyl) Boehmer, Sam (Monica) Boehmer, Jessica (Nick) Hager Smith and Andrea (Brent) Hager Koelling; and five great-grandchildren, Wyatt Smith, Barrett Koelling, and Braden, Trevor and Owen Boehmer. She was also preceded in death by: six siblings, Mary Lueckenotte, George "Buddy" Pope, Lydia "Lee" Clark, Frank Pope, Irene Koelling and Teresa Schwartz. Friends will be received from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, 2016, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home, where a Prayer Service will be held at 4:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 12, 2016, at St. Peter Catholic Church, with Fr. John Schmitz officiating. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Special Learning Center or St. Peter Catholic Church.
