Frederick Albert Schroer

Frederick Albert Schroer II, age 55, of Topeka, Kan., passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2016, in Kansas City, Kansas, after a brief illness. He was born on November 21, 1960 in Columbia, Missouri, to James Albert and Grace Ann (Pile) Schroer. Fred graduated from Msgr. Luckey High School in Manhattan, Kansas and worked in Manhattan, Eskridge, and Topeka, mainly in food service jobs. He was also an active supporter of civic and public service projects, volunteering for Eskridge as an All-American City, NAMI (National Awareness of Mental Illness), and recovery groups such as Alcoholics Anonymous. Fred lived in Topeka for the last few years of his life. He is survived by his mother, Grace Schroer of Oberlin, Kansas; his siblings, Mary and Mark White, Kingsley, Mich.; Grace Schroer and Jim Schultze, Baldwin City, Kansas; Marty and Dave Olson, Oberlin, Kansas; Beth and Ken Newman, Santa Fe, New Mexico; Laura Schroer, Alliance, Nebraska; Therese Schroer and Sandy Barnett, Tallahassee, Florida; his uncle and aunt, Stafford and Clara Pile, Indianapolis, Indiana; cousins, Cynthia Pile, Indianapolis, Indiana, and Stephanie Pile, Albany, California. Fred is beloved by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, James Stafford Schroer, and his father James Albert Schroer. A memorial service is planned for 1:30 p.m. on April 8 at Seven Dolors Church in Manhattan, Kansas. Fred will be interred at Sunrise Cemetery in Manhattan.
