Pamela Jean Fick, 50, Jefferson City, died Monday, June 6, 2016, at the Ellis Fischel Cancer Center in Columbia, with her family by her side. Pam was the youngest of five children, born January 31, 1966, to John Thomas and Dorothy (Staskal) Hufford. She was beautiful, smart, stylish, wicked-funny, ambitious, big-hearted and deeply spiritual. She lived 50 love-filled years, had four incredible children, a loving husband, legions of wonderful friends and a great and loyal dog. Pam had impeccable style, was a talented cook, an interior designer, a lover of shoes and purses and a spectacular seamstress who started a hobby making American girl doll clothes, named Cozy Hearts. Pam was deeply spiritual, a school volunteer and a very active member of St. Peters Catholic church. She also started a rosary club. Pamela attended the American Institute of Business and acquired a degree in court reporting. She quickly advanced in her profession, serving two judges at the Cole County Courthouse and reaching Registered Merit Reporter, the highest level of certification in her field and achieved by only 16% of court reporters in the nation. Her certifications included: CCR, RPR, RMR. In addition to being a consummate professional, Pam was a devoted mother of four: John Thomas Harker (Alyssa) of Columbia, Mo., Sarah Kellogg Harker of Jefferson City, Mo., Elizabeth Fick of Jefferson City, Mo., Sam Fick of Jefferson City, Mo. Pam is also survived by: her husband of 14 years, Kevin Fick; mother, Dorothy (Staskal) Hufford; siblings, Deborah Hufford (Evan Jones) of Mequon, Wis., Thomas S. Hufford of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Susan (Jeff) Schoen, of Sloan, Iowa and Scheila Hufford of Des Moines, Iowa; and her father and mother-in-law, James and Georgena Fick of Vienna, Mo. Pam is preceded in death by her father, John Thomas Hufford. Another thing for the world to know about Pam; most of us are defined by the life we lead, but Pam also distinguished herself in her passing. Diagnosed with ovarian cancer, Stage 4, four years ago, she waged a valiant fight and defied odds. She gave her youngest children four more years and she lived those years fully. While on this earth, she filled her days with laughter and joy. And she will continue to touch us with her spirit, as she lives in her glory in heaven. Friends and Family will be received from 4:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, June 9, 2016, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home, where a Prayer Service will be held at 3:15 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 10, 2016, at St. Peter Catholic Church, with Fr. Greg Meystrik officiating. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Hospice Compassus or the Pam Fick Children's Educational Fund. Arrangements are under the direction of HOUSER-MILLARD Funeral Directors, 2613 West Main Street, Jefferson City, MO 65109. (573) 636-3838.
