Douglas Mitchell "Doug" Austin

Douglas Mitchell "Doug" Austin, 58, of Jefferson City, passed away Monday, July 25, 2016, at Capital Region Medical Center. He was born February 7, 1958, in Jefferson City, Mo., the son of the late Buford S. and Bertha (Glover) Austin. Doug was a 1976 graduate of Jefferson City High School. Doug worked for the Missouri Department of Revenue where he retired in 2001. He was a member of Second Christian Church. In his free time, Doug enjoyed listening to music, going dancing and visiting with his family and friends. Survivors include one sister, Delpha Jordan, Surprise, Ariz.; two aunts, Viola Miller, Kansas City, Mo. and Dora Washington, Jefferson City; two nieces, Cheri Smith, Jefferson City and Latosha Austin, Kansas City, Mo.; three nephews, Aaron Austin, Jefferson City, Craig Johnson, Surprise, Ariz. and Gary Scott, Kansas City, Mo.; and several cousins, other extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Edith Austin; and one brother, Buford Austin. Visitation will be 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Friday, August 5, 2016, at Second Christian Church. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday, August 5, 2016, at Second Christian Church with the Rev. Geneva Whittler officiating. Entombment will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
